An imaginative story about the meeting of medusa and a water nymph who tries to persuade her ( using the magic of the flower) to come closer to the edge of the water (sinister intensions.. no doubt ) somewhere in a forest far far away. The waternymph is trying to mimic the medusa to make her less suspicious. Seeing beyond the masquerade of what appears to be just a beautifully dressed woman, she takes on the appearance of a horrible creature….
Initial sketching and design was done in Painter. When it was halfway done I imported it into Photoshop

Wow, this is beautiful!
I love the details in the water, how soft, fluid, and reflective it is. Also the subtle snakes in the medusa's hair are a nice touch.
I love the two-sided nymph, and the transition from her put-on appearance to the side of what she really is.
This is incredibly detailed and just stunning!
Did you use photographs to blend in, or for reference? Their faces are just so life-like!!

This is fabulous - I love how the Medusa's serpentine hair is introduced only at the tips, and your creation of the story about her creating an illusion of herself. It's not often you see this mythical subject taken a step further. Love the little details of the lion turned to stone by her gaze and the way you have painted the water plants. Wonderful :)
